Softball

The Junior CYO Softball program participates in the Region 11 division. It is open to all girls who attend Nativity Parish, School or PREP in grades 4th-8th.

 

Season

The Region 11 softball season runs from March 1st through June 18th. Practices may not begin before March 1st and all games and playoffs must be completed before June 18th.

Division

There are two divisions for the Junior CYO softball program. The Parish League includes all players in 4th and 5th grades and the Varsity team includes all players in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Levels

There are two levels of competition for both the Varsity team. The Varsity 1 level is considered a competitive level while Varsity 2 level is less competitive and more instructional. It should be noted if we can only field one team in a particular level then that team must compete in the Varsity 1 level.

Tryouts 

• Girls of both levels will have scheduled tryouts the beginning of March pending on weather.
• There will be at least two tryout practices that will be facilitated by the assigned coaches. After tryouts are completed, the coaches will determine the rosters for each team based upon individual abilities.
• The schedule for tryouts will be communicated through the school newsletter, parish bulletin and CYO website.

What to Bring

All athletes should wear the appropriate cleats and bring a glove and water bottle to all practices and games.

Practices

Practices will be held at Nativity of Our Lord.

Games

Home games are played at Nativity of Our Lord and Archbishop Wood High School.

Game Schedule

A scheduling meeting is planned and attended by all coaches participating in Region 11.  Schedules are not usually completed and confirmed until April.

Uniforms

Can be purchased during registration.

Pictures

A professional photographer will be taking team and individual pictures. These pictures are optional. However, we do ask that all team members attend the photo date in order to have a complete team picture. The times will be distributed by the coaches as well as posted on the CYO website.
